The bomb blast dislodged a gravestone and blew it upwards where it smashed through the battlements ending up 150 yards the other side of the Church. - evidently it was a German gravestone!

30 September 1940 when a500 lb German bomb was dropped - the crater was 30 feet across and 10 feet deep!
